Reviews by Tom Good I live in Portland, so I was curious about what a scent called Portland Rain would smell like. This fresh, clean floral scent brings up images of a light summer rain shower in the Portland Rose Garden. It smells like roses, with a nice powdery finish. I wish every rainy day in Portland smelled this good. Dream is a cooler, earthier scent that seems to contain vanilla and some spice. Whereas Portland Rain is very floral and feminine, Dream is sensual but could work for either sex. It makes me think of walking through an exotic market full of delicious food and colorful silks. Escential offers shopping online through their web site, and also has two Portland stores, one at 710 NW 23rd Ave., and the other at 3638 SE Hawthorne Blvd. I have been to both of these stores and they are well organized and inviting, with a variety of bath and skin care products, a large selection of essential and perfume oils, and friendly service. They also offer custom scents on many of their products, with over 130 oils to choose from, so you can design something for yourself. One-half ounce of Portland Rain is a bargain at $11. I do not have price information for Dream, but most of their other perfume oils seem to be between $11 and $18.
