Review by Linda Yau
As a successful reclusive horror writer, Gary Short is a man with many past and personal demons. Now the story begins with him being the only witness to a horrific crime. The perpetrator as Gary identifies is a stalker known as the penny man. Zeke Henderson is the police detective who is assigned to cover this case. He questions Gary and remembers that he was the first respondent with a case involving Gary years earlier. Now he faces an attraction to the writer and over the story proves to be the man that would ignite Gary's passion.
Written in about 163 pages, this story was a long satisfying read for any reader and fan of suspense, mystery, CSI, and the attraction of two men. There were elements of an angst filled past, the survival of a man, and the attentions from another man.
Several unclear plot points though bring about these three questions. Would the events of this story plausible? Would a real drug addict be cured by physical distractions? Is it possible for an addiction or affliction to last for years without any intervention? Still these are personal questions, reading the story with the sex was pretty neat, like riding a small roller coaster with some bumps until the very end.
Cannot say that there is hope for a follow up story; but in reading this story, understand that there is worth in reading a lengthy story with character and plot developments.
