Review by Kris

It is always so hard to write reviews for books in series. You don't want to spoil anything that happened in the previous volume and yet some of that information is carried on into the next volume. I'll try my best but I'm going to apologize for any spoilers that may appear. Also, click here to read my review of Star Project Chiro vol. 1. Star Project Chiro vol. 2 continues the story of Eun-Yo Song and her trying to pay back her debt to Nan Lee.

Nan Lee has a plan in mind for how Eun-Yo Song can pay him back. He first asks her to break up with Chan-Kyung Woo, her boyfriend. Her only other offer is to tell Chan-Kyung what is happening. Nan Lee knows that Chan-Kyung would do anything for Eun-Yo but he also knows that Eun-Yo is way too proud to allow that. She got herself into this mess, she'll get herself out. You can guess what happens next. Poor Chan-Kyung, he deserves better anyway. Now that Eun-Yo has accepted her fate, the next stop is to her house to discuss things with her brothers. Armed with the embarassing video tape, Nan tells her brothers that he's taking her to America to help make her a star. The brothers are reluctant but after watching the tape they finally give in. Nan hasn't really expounded on his plan. Of course Eun-Yo is getting a little impatient but all will be revealed.

It turns out that Nan is going to make Eun-Yo into a pop star, a male pop star. He's in need of a singing partner for his big comeback. Originally it was supposed to be Chan-Kyung. He decided to go with Eun-Yo because she has the personality that will help propel her to superstardom. The fact that she's a she is nothing that training can't handle. The two of them travel to the middle of nowhere. It's cool because everyone thinks that she's in America. They hide out at Nan's fortune teller's home and Nan's driver will take over training Eun-Yo to look more muscular. It seems that Chae-Yoon Bok, the fortune teller, might have a thing for Nan. She doesn't understand why he's going to all the trouble of turning Eun-Yo into a male pop star. Will Nan's plan work?

The second volume doesn't disappoint, but I still wanted to sock Eun-Yo for the way she ended it with Chan-Kyung. He is so sweet and understanding. There are a few more characters thrown into the mix Chae-Yoon Bok, a fortune teller that works with a plush monkey god, and Mr. Kim, Nan's driver and Eun-Yo's personal trainer. This volume is definitely funnier than the last one. Even though they're in the middle of nowhere Eun-Yo is still getting mixed up into all kinds of craziness. I have been impressed with UDON's presentation. I think that the fold out full color page is a nice extra and I wish more manga and manhwa publishers would do the same (I know there are some publishers who have full color pages but I'm not talking about them.) I'm looking forward to reading more of Eun-Yo's misadventures in future volumes of Star Project Chiro. I hope that you do too!
