Like Baraka And Black Magic In Morocco, this is a travel comic. All of the stories in it happened to the author except for the title story about the tsunami in Thailand, which was told to him by Louisa Hirst. About six pages of prose and fourteen pages of comics make this a fairly thin volume, but Hall includes observations about everything from Buddhism to motorcycles to water-buffalo-milk yoghurt, so the $3 price seems very reasonable. Saiyuki Reload Gunlock, Vol 1. (DVD)

Though it is a Volume 1, this series is a sequel to the earlier series Saiyuki Reload. It is loosely based on the Chinese classic story The Journey to the West (also known as Monkey). The original story concerns a monk who journeys from China to India to retrieve Buddhist scriptures, and it has provided inspiration for many anime and manga including Dragonball. In this version the monk carries a gun, smokes cigarettes, and sometimes drives a car. [more]
