Review by Kris

Author's Pet is Deathco Cotorino's first manga. It is a book of one-shots.

Author's Pet refers to the one-shots I'll Have You Make Up for This!, I'll Have You Change Your Job!, and We're Closed for Today! They are the main story. Yuuta Oohashi woke up late one day and was going to be late for school. Who knew that this day would change his life? While rushing through the train station, he accidentally knocks Tsubaki Nishijima down the stairs, injuring him. It turns out that Tsubaki is an author. Because both of his arms are broken, Tsubaki insists that Yuuta take responsibility and uses Yuuta as his hands. Little did Yuuta know that Tsubaki decided to write a romance novel. What will Yuuta do when he finds himself being turned on by Tsubaki's words? [more]

Nephilim: Vol 2.
Story and Art by Anna Hanamaki
Published by Aurora Publishing
ISBN-10: 1934496278
ISBN-13: 978-1934496275

Review by Linda Yau

Abel is a survivor from her/his heavily persecuted race. Her/his species is the Nephilim, which is a unique gender-changing race. During the daytime she/he is a strong 'pretty boy' man and at nighttime he/she is a delicate beautiful woman. When Guy a solider from the imperial army sees his/her true form one time at a night time bathing pool, Abel vows to kill him. Now, that was that was a recap from the first volume, the story continues and expands in the second volume. Without reading the first volume, it would be bad to start from the second volume, or that is my opinion. [more]

Niann, orphaned child of an outsider, was only ever truly loved by Jennar.  Because of their statuses, however, the two led very different lives; Niann was forced to carry out menial children's tasks while the others were allowed to go out and find their totem animal, giving them a purpose in life.  It is not simply the fact that Niann was an outsider that kept others from allowing him to go find his totem animal, though; Heyka, the village shaman, had forseen Niann's totem animal as the deer, and planned with the village leader to keep this to themselves, making it all the easier to take advantage of Niann when the time came.  After all, can't have the young man who will soon be forced to live as a woman, serving to fulfill the urges of both men and women every day knowing about such a plan beforehand. Review by Linda Yau

Taste Test is a short anthology with three different stories. The Holly and the Oak by GS Wiley. Roy LeRoy and the Longest Day by Kit Zheng. Rude Mechanicals by Syd McGinley. As a general impression these stories all left me with the feeling, as though there should a glass of lemonade nearby to sip. [more]

Being in possession of a pearl necklace with desirable powers is bound to attract some unsavory visitors sooner or later.  Jamie Smith, however, does not know that his antique shop is housing such a piece and most likely would have been killed for it had a handsome vampire named Haridan not shown up in time to stave off some attackers after the powerful accessory.  Having no family and no close friends to keep him tied to home, he not only agrees to go to Rome with Haridan for safety, he also agrees to spend the rest of eternity there as Haridan's ghoul, feeding off blood from one another.  Ah, vampire romance. Trace Kent is happy with his latest report grade, when he meets Colt, an older man and gardener at his college. They became lovers after their first dinner/date, and what Trace learns about Colt had him backing away from him. It appears that Colt has a fixation on spanking.
